Sixty of the leading low handicapped Senior golfers from England & Wales played in the inaugural NWCGA Seniors Open played at the Vale of Llangollen GC.
Unfortunately the scheduled 2nd round of the 36 hole competition had to be abandoned because of heavy rain flooding a number of greens and making the course unplayable.
The winner of the competition, decided on the opening 18 holes was Grahame Barrett a member of Dukinfield GC who returned a 73 gross to beat Timothy Christie of the Northenden GC on a card countback. Andrew Williams a member of Newport GC finished 3rd on 74. The winner of the Seiko North Wales Closed championship was George Smith of the Vale of Llangollen GC with a score of 79 gross.
